Charged branes interactions via Kalb-Ramond field

Because of its versatility, the 2-form field has been employed to describe a multitude of scenarios that range from high energy to condensed matter physics. Pushing forward in this endeavor we study the interaction energy, intermediated by this kind of field, between branes in a variety of configurations. Also, the so-called Cremmer-Scherk-Kalb-Ramond model, which consists of the electromagnetic field coupled to the Kalb-Ramond gauge potential, is considered. It turns out that these models exhibit a much richer class of sources than usually thought, able to intermediate novel forms of interactions in different scenarios.Comment: 12 latex pages, more general result

A new global analysis of deep inelastic scattering data

    Get PDF
A new QCD analysis of Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) data is presented. All available neutrino and anti-neutrino cross sections are reanalysed and included in the fit, along with charged-lepton DIS and Drell-Yan data. A massive factorisation scheme is used to describe the charm component of the structure functions. Next-to-leading order parton distribution functions are provided. In particular, the strange sea density is determined with a higher accuracy with respect to other global fits.Comment: 51 pages, 18 figure

A Conducting surface in Lee-Wick electrodynamics

The Lee-Wick electrodynamics in the vicinity of a conducting plate is investigated. The propagator for the gauge field is calculated and the interaction between the plate and a point-like electric charge is computed. The boundary condition imposed on the vector field is taken to be the one that vanishes, on the plate, the normal component of the dual field strength to the plate. It is shown that the image method is not valid in Lee-Wick electrodynamics.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur

3D MODELING of A COMPLEX BUILDING: From MULTI-VIEW IMAGE FUSION to GOOGLE EARTH PUBLICATION

    Get PDF
This paper presents a pipeline that aims at illustrating the procedure to realize a 3D model of a complex building integrating the UAV and terrestrial images and modifying the 3D model in order to publish to Google Earth in an interactive modality so as to provide better available models for visualization and use. The main steps of the procedure are the optimization of the UAV flight, the integration of the different UAV and ground floor images and the optimization of the model to be published to GE. The case study has been identified in a building, The Eremo di Santa Rosalia Convent in Sicily which hash more staggered elevations and located in the hills of the hinterland and of which, the online platform only indicate the position on Google Maps (GM) and Google Earth (GE) with a photo from above and a non-urban road whose GM path is not corresponding with the GE photo. The process highlights the integration of the models and showcases a workflow for the publication of the combined 3D model to the GE platform

Field theoretic description of electromagnetic boundaries: The Casimir effect between dissimilar mirrors from external potentials

In a previous work we formulated a model of semitransparent dielectric surfaces, coupled to the electromagnetic field by means of an effective potential. Here we consider a setup with two dissimilar mirrors, and compute exactly the correction undergone by the photon propagator due to the presence of both plates. It turns out that this new propagator is continuous all over the space and, in the appropriate limit, coincides with the one used to describe the Casimir effect between perfect conductors. The amended Green function is then used to calculate the Casimir energy between the uniaxial dielectric surfaces described by the model, and a numerical analysis is carried out to highlight the peculiar behavior of the interaction between the mirrors.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
